Server Administration

You can perform the following server administration tasks that help you manage and maintain your IBM Cognos 8 system and tune performance.

• manage dispatchers and services
• manage Content Managers
• maintain the content store
• migrate PowerPlay reports published to IBM Cognos 8
• tune server performance
• enable concurrent query execution
• set query prioritization
• disable session caching
• add application context to dynamic SQL
• save report output to a file location
• configure the lineage solution
• configure the IBM WebSphere Business Glossary URI
• enable job, task, and SMTP queue metrics

You should be familiar with the IBM Cognos 8 components and with how they are installed and configured. If you installed IBM Cognos 8 servers or components on more than one computer, all functionality can be controlled through system administration. For some server administration tasks, you use IBM Cognos Administration and must have the required permissions to the access administration functionality Secured Functions and Features.
