Importing Metadata from Data Sources

Before modeling in Framework Manager, you must import metadata. You can import metadata from a variety of data sources, both relational and dimensional. You can import into a new model or into an existing one. Before importing, it is important that you determine that the data source contains the data and metadata that satisfy your reporting needs.

To import metadata, we recommend that you do the following:

	Define data sources .
	Set data source security .
	Learn about the types of data source connections .
	Learn how to work with data source connections .
	Create a data source connection .
	Import metadata .
